May 27, 2011 News from the Shelby Fisheries Center Shelby Center News - The Fish Ecology Lab has continued the intensive sampling of the reef communities of the north-central Gulf shelf. Dr. Shipp recently sampled some of the sites that have been reported to have significant numbers of "sick fish". Mar 4, 2011 NOAA/FDA/LA on Gulf Seafood Safety The Alabama Dept. of Public Health has produced THE BEST review of the toxic issues associted with the oil spill and dispersants. Dr. LuAnn White, a toxicologist from the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine provides lecture through the continuing education program of the ADPH. Aug 17, 2010 Dr Crozier Speaks at the Clinton School of Public Service Dr. George Crozier, senior marine scientist and executive director of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab off the coast of Alabama, discusses the environmental impact of the recent Gulf oil spill. The sea lab is located at the mouth of Mobile Bay in an area directly impacted by the spill, and scientists there are studying the long-term effects of the oil on marine life and the coast.
